Product Engineer

Position Overview

Finish Line Staffing Services is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to support product design, development, and manufacturing initiatives. This role involves collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams to optimize product performance, improve manufacturability, resolve technical challenges, and support continuous improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background with experience in product design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support product design and development, including material selection, design recommendations, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to understand product requirements and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Create and maintain CAD drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in tooling development, manufacturing process design, and new product introductions.
  • Conduct product failure analysis, investigate quality concerns, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide hands-on manufacturing support to improve productivity, reduce scrap, and optimize production processes.
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot manufacturing tools, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop cost estimates by analyzing materials, tooling, production processes, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Lead product improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and support compliance with established quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Several years of experience in product engineering, product design, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience in rubber, plastics, or material conversion manufacturing required.
  • Strong understanding of product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software; Solid Edge experience is a plus.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with spreadsheets and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with customers, engineering teams, and production personnel.
