Description

Qualifications

Mechanical & Assembly Experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience supporting enclosure and electromechanical ("box build") assemblies.
  • Ability to follow engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.

Cable Assembly & Rework

  • Experience building and reworking fine-pitch cable assemblies (0.5mm pitch).
  • Skilled in cable assembly from drawings and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with fine-pitch crimping tools and cable termination techniques.
  • Experience installing cables, integrating strain reliefs, and terminating shielded multi-conductor cables.
  • Ability to create and update cable assembly documentation and drawings.

PCB Assembly & Soldering

  • Experience with PCB assembly, micro-soldering, and electronic rework.
  • Comfortable soldering under a microscope.
  • Ability to work with small components, including 0402 passives and 0.5mm pitch QFN/QFP packages.
  • Experience performing board modifications, including trace cuts, solder mask removal, and wire modifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.

Prototype Build Support

  • Familiarity with prototype PCB assembly processes, including:
    • Manual and stencil-based solder paste application
    • Reflow oven, hot plate, and rework station operation
    • Prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting

Laboratory & Production Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Assist with component sourcing, inventory management, and build preparation.
  • Accurately document completed work and maintain high standards of quality and workmanship.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.

Test Equipment & Safety

  • Experience using electronic test equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Understanding of electrical safety practices, particularly when working with mains-powered equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with wire harness assembly in manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or related environments.
  • IPC soldering certification.
  • Experience with 3D printing and CAD software for designing fixtures, tooling, or assembly aids.
  • Experience terminating and testing RJ45 connectors and Ethernet cables.
