Job Summary:
The Quality Mechanical Inspector checks machined parts and assemblies to make sure they meet company and customer requirements. This role performs inspections at different stages of production using hand tools and measurement equipment. The inspector works closely with production and quality teams to ensure parts are accurate, consistent, and meet quality standards. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on machined parts and assemblies
- Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicators
- Operate and program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment
- Inspect incoming materials and parts from outside vendors
- Record inspection results accurately on paperwork and inspection reports
- Identify nonconforming parts and communicate issues to supervisors and the quality team
- Read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints
- Apply GD&T requirements during inspections
- Support ISO 9001 quality standards and documentation
- Help improve quality, reduce defects, and support continuous improvement efforts
- Work closely with production and quality teams to maintain consistent standards
Safety & Organization:
- Follow all safety procedures
- Keep the inspection area clean and organized
- Maintain inspection tools and report any issues
- Be a positive team player who takes accountability for their work
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of quality inspection experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T
- Experience using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- Experience operating and programming CMM machines
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word)
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
