We are hiring on behalf of our client, a respected organization in the wastewater utilities industry, for a Plant Maintenance Foreman. This leadership position is responsible for supervising, planning, and executing maintenance activities at a domestic wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The role requires a strong technical background in plant maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to oversee both day-to-day operations and long-term maintenance reliability initiatives.
Position Overview
The Plant Maintenance Foreman leads a team of maintenance personnel—including mechanics and electricians—ensuring that plant operations, equipment, and infrastructure remain efficient, safe, and compliant. This role requires strong technical and managerial expertise to troubleshoot complex issues, manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, and support compliance with environmental regulations.
This is an on-site role with overtime and on-call responsibilities, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as needed.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prioritize, and direct daily maintenance activities for the treatment plant, structures, and equipment.

Supervise and train maintenance staff, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

Schedule and manage preventative and corrective maintenance through CMMS software (InforEAM), ensuring accurate creation, assignment, and closure of work orders.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues, including conducting root cause analysis (RCA).

Oversee maintenance and repair of equipment such as pumps, motors, blowers, valves, HVAC systems, PLCs, and SCADA components.

Conduct quality control checks to verify that completed work meets operational standards.

Monitor inventory levels for spare parts and supplies; coordinate procurement as needed.

Track and report KPIs for maintenance productivity, efficiency, and backlog reduction using PowerBI or similar tools.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operating permits.

Develop, review, and update maintenance procedures and SOPs.

Conduct staff performance evaluations, set goals, and provide recommendations for promotions and pay increases.

Participate in hiring and staffing decisions for the Maintenance Team.

Collaborate with other departments on plant projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Perform as Essential Staff during emergencies, ensuring continuity of operations.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Valid Florida driver’s license; ability to obtain a Class B CDL within one year of hire.

Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years of hands-on plant maintenance experience (utilities preferred).

At least 5 years of progressive management or supervisory experience in plant/utility maintenance.

Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including knowledge of 480-volt electrical systems, switchgear, MCCs, and emergency generators.

Demonstrated experience implementing safety programs (JHA, lock-out/tag-out, confined space, hot work permits).

Proficiency in CMMS software (preferably InforEAM) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Experience with asset lifecycle management, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and predictive technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound).
