
Description
Our client, an engineer of innovative surface modification solutions to enhance the performance of medical wires, devices, and instruments, has an immediate opening for an IBAD & Ion Technician. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) equipment and Ion Implanters.
Responsibilities:
- Install and service ion sources (Filament, PBN)
- Generate ion beams using nitrogen, oxygen, and argon gases
- Generate scanned electron beams per specification
- Perform chamber loading/unloading according to applicable specifications
- Set up and clean chambers following standard procedures
- Configure runs into the process controller per specification
- Identify major equipment components, potential hazards, and follow cleanroom protocols
- Adhere to proper product handling practices and procedures
- Rebuild ion sources
- Operate vacuum valve controllers
- Complete process documentation and maintain standard equipment logbooks
- Generate scanned ion beams as specified
- Load/unload “hip style” plates into chambers per applicable specifications
- Conduct oil changes on mechanical roughing pumps (non-toxic only)
- Regenerate cryogenic pumps
- Use helium leak detectors to identify and locate external vacuum leaks
- Clean and overhaul source housing
- Configure standard production chambers according to product specifications
- Calibrate high voltage, vacuum, and current integrator systems
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Remove and replace cryopump array assemblies
- Service cryopump compressors and perform coldhead decontamination
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) or high vacuum processing equipment
- Mechanically inclined
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment
- Basic knowledge of electronics preferred
- Experience working in an ISO-regulated environment preferred
