Position Summary
The Metal Finishing Technician is responsible for grinding, polishing, and preparing metal components to meet high-quality standards for both function and appearance. This role ensures that all parts are free of defects, properly finished, and ready for assembly or shipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to consistent workmanship in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Metal Finishing & Polishing

  • Grind, sand, clean, and polish metal parts to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects.

  • Operate finishing tools such as belt sanders, hand grinders, polishers, and deburring equipment.

  • Apply appropriate finishing techniques to achieve specified surface textures and appearance requirements.

Quality Assurance

  • Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with workmanship and quality standards.

  • Report surface finish concerns or part issues to team leads or managers.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve finishing challenges.

Safety & Workplace Organization

  • Follow all company safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on finishing tools and equipment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for precision finishing tasks.

Preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.

  • Knowledge of metal polishing, grinding, and deburring techniques.

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.

  • Willingness to learn; training provided for the right candidate.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform repetitive finishing tasks with precision.

  • Maintain manual dexterity and fine motor control for detailed work.

  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 40 lbs.

  • Stand for extended periods and operate hand tools and power equipment.
