On behalf of our client, an innovative leader in the medical device industry we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer. This role will focus on the architecture, design, and development of advanced electronic systems for medical devices, including infusion pumps, patient monitoring systems, in-vitro diagnostic equipment, energy delivery platforms, and medical robotics.

Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical system design efforts from concept through verification.

Define system architectures and hardware design requirements.

Perform risk analyses (including FMEA) to ensure compliance with medical device standards.

Design and prototype electronic subsystems (e.g., microcontrollers, sensors, motor drivers, power supplies, displays, wireless modules).

Provide guidance for mixed-signal PCB layouts.

Test and validate prototypes against functional, safety, and performance requirements.

Develop diagnostic and test methodologies.

Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Support design verification, regulatory submissions, and certification activities.
Required Skills & Expertise

Embedded Systems: Microcontroller design (ARM/STM32 family, STM32CubeMX configurator).

Analog & Mixed-Signal: ADC front-end design (Sigma-Delta), signal conditioning, and sensor filtering.

Motor Control: Experience with Trinamic or comparable motor driver ICs.

Digital Interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, HyperBus, OctoSPI.

Power Systems: Power management, isolation, and sequencing for medical devices.

Safety & Isolation: Expertise in noise immunity and patient protection techniques.

Design Tools: OrCAD schematic capture, CIP/CIS database; ability to guide PCB layouts.

Compliance: Knowledge of IEC60601-1 (safety) and IEC60601-1-2 (EMC); experience with NRTLs for certification.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
Education & Experience

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (required); M.S. preferred.

8+ years of experience in board-level and system-level electronics design.

Proven track record in the medical device industry (required).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with infusion pump design and development.
Physical Requirements

Full wrist, hand, and finger dexterity.

Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for long periods as required.
