We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading organization in the wastewater utilities industry, for a Collections & Distribution Reliability Engineer & SCADA Technician. This role is essential in supporting the reliability and efficiency of critical infrastructure through proactive maintenance, system planning, and SCADA operations.
Position Overview
The Collections & Distribution Reliability Engineer & SCADA Technician is responsible for coordinating the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure reliability of equipment and systems within the Collections & Distribution Department. This includes managing preventative maintenance programs, analyzing data to drive reliability improvements, and overseeing SCADA systems for real-time data collection and operator interface.
This position requires flexibility, with potential overtime, on-call responsibilities, and availability during nights, weekends, holidays, and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the department’s critical spare parts inventory, including procurement, restocking, and repair coordination.

Oversee lift station and pump workflows, ensuring timely replacement, repair, and restocking while reporting deficiencies.

Develop, monitor, and update Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs and provide recommendations for improvement.

Act as planner for corrective and breakdown work orders, applying root cause analysis to drive efficiency.

Draft system shutdown and bypass plans in collaboration with leadership and engineering teams.

Review department work orders for accuracy, compliance, and completion.

Provide monthly reports on departmental performance, including PM compliance, critical spares, and CMMS utilization.

Support SCADA development, implementation, and troubleshooting in collaboration with technical staff.

Serve as essential personnel during emergencies, with ability to step in for leadership when needed.

Participate in on-call schedules, overtime assignments, and emergency preparedness/recovery efforts.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

FW&PCOA Level III (Class “C”) Certification in Wastewater Collections and Wastewater Distribution, or ability to obtain within timeframe set by employer.

Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Advanced degree in engineering, maintenance reliability, or related field preferred.

Industrial maintenance reliability certifications preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience with CMMS or related electronic maintenance systems.

At least 3 years’ maintenance reliability experience, with strong mechanical aptitude.

Intermediate to advanced VTSCADA training with some programming knowledge.

Experience with data analysis and reporting platforms such as Microsoft Power BI.
Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of wastewater collections and distribution systems, including federal and state regulations.

Proficiency in computer hardware, networking, PLCs, and SCADA/client-server systems.

Highly organized with strong project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Effective time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Strong written and verbal communication, with professionalism in working with staff and the public.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (5S, KPIs, root cause analysis) is a plus.

Valid Florida driver’s license; ability to obtain a Florida Class B CDL within one year of hire.
