
Description
Our client, a manufacturer of advanced technology serving the robotic, medical, firearm, and additional industries, has an immediate opening for a CNC Lathe Machinist. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to produce precision-machined parts according to engineering specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Create and optimize CNC programs (G/M code) for multi-axis CNC lathes
- Program from technical drawings, GD&T callouts, or 3D CAD models
- Select tooling and define cutting paths and machining parameters
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to test and validate programs
- Perform first-article inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Troubleshoot machining or programming issues to ensure repeatable results
- Use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators to inspect work
- Ensure part quality through in-process inspections and documentation
- Accurately complete job travelers, logs, and inspection reports
- Identify and report any quality concerns, material issues, or nonconformances
- Collaborate with engineers and team leads to improve machining efficiency
- Recommend improvements to reduce cycle time or increase consistency
- Maintain strong communication across shifts and departments
- Train and support operators or junior machinists when needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 7+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
- Proficient with tooling, work holding, and inspection equipment
- Proficient in reading, writing, and editing CNC programs (G/M code)
- Experience with multi-axis or live-tool lathes preferred
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machining processes, and tooling preferred
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while working with CNC equipment
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and measurement tools
