Description
The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electromechanical components and CT scanning systems in a manufacturing environment. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings, follow detailed work instructions, perform quality inspections, and ensure equipment meets established factory specifications and quality standards. The technician will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support ongoing product development.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble complex electromechanical components and systems using detailed work instructions, CAD drawings, and technical documentation
- Perform quality control inspections using factory checklists to verify assembly accuracy and workmanship
- Test and troubleshoot CT scanning equipment to ensure compliance with established performance specifications
- Conduct X-ray source testing using a Manufacturing Test Bed and approved work instructions
- Perform electrical safety testing, including hipot and ground continuity testing
- Document completed work, part and assembly issues, required rework, and machine configurations to maintain accurate production records and traceability
- Utilize company software systems to track work progress and maintain production documentation
- Provide feedback on work instructions, assembly processes, and manufacturing issues to support continuous improvement
- Operate overhead lifting equipment, including vacuum lifters and gantry cranes, and forklifts following required training and safety procedures
- Prepare and crate large-scale capital equipment according to established work instructions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to all applicable factory safety protocols
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify and resolve assembly and testing issues
Requirements:
- Hands-on mechanical assembly or electromechanical manufacturing experience
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical part drawings, assembly drawings, CAD drawings, and technical work instructions
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, including vernier calipers and torque wrenches
- Experience using a digital multimeter (DMM) to perform electrical measurements
- Experience with hipot and ground continuity testing
- Comfortable using digital tools and manufacturing or organizational software
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing production priorities and hands-on tasks
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
