Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations in a regulated medical device environment. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives while leading production teams, implementing Lean initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in medical device manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement Lean manufacturing principles across the production floor.
- Improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, product quality, and overall operational performance.
- Partner with Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure production schedules are met.
- Monitor production metrics and ensure labor, quality, and delivery standards are consistently achieved.
- Own visual management systems and promote a sustainable culture of continuous improvement.
- Communicate key business priorities and customer requirements to production teams.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop production staff while providing ongoing coaching and performance management.
- Build and maintain a high-performing team aligned with business objectives.
- Support employee development through training and career growth opportunities.
- Present operational updates and manufacturing performance to customers and internal stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in medical device manufacturing required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an FDA-regulated medical device environment (FDA QMSR, ISO 13485); 10+ years preferred.
- Experience managing complex electromechanical manufacturing operations preferred.
- Experience with Class III implantable medical devices is highly preferred.
- Cleanroom manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization.
- Experience with production planning, inventory control, and manufacturing cost systems.
- Experience using IQMS ERP is preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence resources within a matrixed organization.
- Comfortable presenting to customers and executive leadership.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
