Position Overview
The Machinist III is responsible for operating manual and CNC machinery, performing mold and die repairs, fabricating tooling components, and supporting production through high-quality machining and process improvement initiatives. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders

Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes

Maintain machines, tooling, and equipment in proper working condition

Select appropriate tooling and workholding methods for various jobs

Sharpen knives, scissors, and dies using surface grinders and hand tools

Assemble and disassemble dies

Service steel rule dies including blade sharpening and punch replacement

Perform basic, intermediate, and complex mold repairs including mold re-cutting, closure dimension adjustments, mold refitting, and trim tool fitting

Repair mold marks, update date codes, and fabricate simple tools and components

Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation

Fabricate complex tooling and machined components

Inspect machined parts and understand GD&T requirements

Work from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions

Plan machining processes and anticipate steps required to complete projects independently

Use various hand and power tools safely and effectively

Make recommendations to supervisors to improve process flow and efficiency
Qualifications
-
Advanced machining experience in both manual and CNC environments
-
Strong blueprint reading and technical interpretation skills

Experience with mold and die repair preferred

Ability to independently plan and execute machining jobs from start to finish

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
