Recruiting Specialist Chris Calnan brings industrial and technical sales and marketing experience to Finish Line Staffing Services. In his prior college years, Chris interned in the staffing and recruiting sector and established his marketing and social media skills interning with a sports equipment company.
We asked Chris a few questions about himself and about his advice for job searchers – learn more about his background and tips:
How did you get into your current role?
When I first started at King & Bishop, I was mainly doing marketing and operations. I was helping in any areas and with anyone that I could within the company.
What moments stand out to you about your time with Finish Line Staffing Services?
The moments that stand out to me here are the memories I have made with my coworker. When you are handling a situation or trying to overcome a challenge during work and you are able to achieve the goal while working together with a coworker or coworkers, it always makes a lasting memory for me. There’s nothing better than achieving something with a team.
How do you see AI impacting the job search?
AI is impacting the job search quite a bit. Job postings online get flooded with applications, and nowadays many people wonder when they see “100+ applicants” on a job if half of those applicants are AI-generated. Also, the question of “Who is reading and reviewing my resume” gets brought up, as to whether it’s an AI robot or a human.
On a positive note, I think AI can be a very successful tool when used to help specifically tailor your resume for a job, prep for an interview, and help find and target certain roles you are looking for.
What do you wish people knew about working with a recruiter?
There are recruiters out there and agencies that truly work hard and try their best to find you the right opportunity. We care about you and know that getting a new job and going through a job search is a big step in your journey.
