Description

Our client, a musical instrument maker, has an immediate need for an experienced Production Manager. The Manufacturing Manager has strategic and tactical leadership responsibility and accountability for the following areas: melting, mass finishing, rolling, front of cell, manual and machine lathe, polishing, finishing and shipping. This position will lead on continuous improvement problem solving opportunities. The ideal candidate should be highly skilled in HR, finance, and IT management. Additionally, the Production Manager should have a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust and collaboration within a capable and experienced team.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute production schedules.
  • Manage, motivate, support, and provide guidance to production staff.
  • Evaluate machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
  • Set productivity goals for each manufacturing team.
  • Develop LEAN workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep our organization accident free.
  • Work effectively in a team setting.
  • Work proficiently with the ERP system to support all decision making.
  • Handle emergencies appropriately according to established procedures; prepare and file accident reports
  • Ensure compliance with company or government regulations; ensure compliance with contracted service level agreements (SLAs); maintain up-to-date county, municipal, and state licensing
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Provide for site safety and security; devise and implement site policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of systems and equipment; monitor fire alarm control panels and other emergency equipment
  • Work closely with safety departments to make sure activities remain compliant
  • Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization

Requirements:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university or two-year degree in a technical discipline with five years management experience.
  • 10+ progressive manufacturing leadership experience with at least 5 years’ experience as a manufacturing Supervisor and a strong track record of achievement.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with metrics, process capabilities, LEAN techniques, continuous improvement tools like Kaizen.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with computer problem solving using tools like 5 Why’s, Fishbone diagram, Value Stream Mapping.
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment with a solid team building approach.
  • Ability to drive strategic vision and understand tactics necessary to achieve company goals.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred to best drive the methodology for both incremental and major improvement gains.
  • Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Judgment, initiative, and ingenuity to work independently towards ultimate objectives on very involved and complex jobs.
  • Capacity to work cross-functionally across the organization.
  • The proven ability to build consensus and resolve conflict, as well as to clearly/concisely priorities among multiple opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external resources.
  • Ability to build long-term relationships and know how to motivate and develop teams and individuals to reach their highest potential.
  • Display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust and collaboration within a capable and experienced team
