
Description
Our client, a premier anaerobic digester developer, has an immediate opening for a Land Use and Zoning Paralegal.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance regarding zoning laws, regulations, and rules impacting development plans
- Research and draft memoranda on a variety of related legal and legislative matters
- Draft correspondence in response to questions and/or requests for information from internal and external stakeholders
- Establish procedures to manage complex negotiations and projects
- Coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion and submission of all necessary documentation and paperwork to municipal and government agencies
- Communicate with site planners and developers regularly regarding timelines and statuses related to project projection and planning
- Manage timely documentation and submission of obligated reporting and regulatory compliance paperwork for the entire lifecycle of new and established sites
- Provide monthly and quarterly reports, each customized for leadership and investors
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in zoning and land use, energy project permitting and development, real estate, or related fields, preferably including contact with all levels of local government staff and elected officials
- Experience with rezoning, special use permits, and comprehensive plan amendments
- Experience with land use and zoning initiates in agriculture and rural communities
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with court officials, state and local government representatives, attorneys, and the general public, and to maintain effective working relationships
- Prior experience assisting lawyers in all aspects of municipal land use, permitting and zoning law, with knowledge related to environmental law
- Demonstrated attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong research and analysis skills, and polished presentation skills
