Our client, a developer and manufacturer of surgical instruments, has an immediate opening for a CAD – Lead Piping Designer. This role will interact with designers and engineers within the engineering group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide planning and direction for other piping designers on project specific tasks
• Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes
• Occasionally perform fieldwork necessary to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support
• Prepare proposals and estimate new projects
• Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc
• Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc. to piping supervisor
• Set up and be responsible for project 3D model (piping systems, tie-in locations, pipe support locations, show mechanical equipment in the 3D model, steam tracing design, and layout)
• Provide weekly project engineering progress reports
• Other responsibilities as required

Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx/Plant 3D, and Navisworks in the Oil & Gas industry utilizing ASME B31.3 and B31.8 codes
• Experience in utilizing point cloud software such as Autodesk Recap or CloudWorx
• Ability to develop and work from P&IDs for use in plant layout and piping design
• Experience leading small to mid-capital projects
• Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
• Solid understanding of Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge
• Able to provide and check piping material take offs against Piping Material specs and engineering preferences
• Competent in understanding and updating of P&ID’s
• Competent in performing field walk downs and verifications or using pictures or laser scans to walk down piping systems
